The Board believes this property belongs to the golf club. Several months ago, this information was communicated to the club. Several months ago, this information was communicated to the club. In response to your question, we contacted the club and asked if they had any plans to start maintaining this parcel. The club manager will look at the site this week and reply. As soon as we receive an answer, we will let you know.
Country Club Response: The area being questioned is the bank along the pond, left of the tee on the par four (#27) practice hole. The bank is covered with Fakahatchees. This area is golf course responsibility. Although it is not true that the area has not been maintained in over a year, it is true that it looks terrible. In years past we have not been able to touch that area during the summer due to the time and the effort it requires. To keep up with that area in the summer would compromise the quality we try to hold on the golf course. It is my understanding that prior to my arrival, the area was never maintained.
As we have each fall, we will get in there - pull all the weeds, spray and pine straw. It will look fine all winter. FYI…this will require the entire crew, each afternoon for at least two weeks. So you see how much of an effort this takes. In summer we cannot afford to send enough people to maintain the area. We should have the area in shape by the end of October.
I have made suggestions in the past that may help. The ideas were not well received due to cost and the future of the practice holes. I suggest we eliminate all the plant material on that bank and line the bank of the pond with large rocks. This would mirror the opposite side of the hole all the way down to the green. Cost would be in the range of $25,000 - $30,000
